ORLANDO, FL– The Orlando Sports Foundation (OSF) announced Tuesday that it will be holding a competition to find the FieldTurf FASTEST ATHLETE in Central Florida during halftime at the 2020 FieldTurf Cure Classic All-Star game. The FieldTurf Cure Classic will be on Dec. 17 at Showalter Field in Winter Park, Fla. Kickoff for the football game is at 7:00 p.m.
The FieldTurf Cure Classic is a high school all-star game featuring the best football players, cheerleaders, band members, and student trainer aides from Orange County and Seminole County high schools. This is the first year that the FieldTurf Cure Classic will add a running competition to the event.
All student-athletes from Orange and Seminole County schools are welcome to enter this competition. Each high school is limited to having two representatives run in this race, one male and one female. The top male and female students from Orange and Seminole County will face off in a final race to be named the FieldTurf FASTEST ATHLETE in Central Florida.
The FASTEST ATHLETE is being run in the year that Rafer Johnson, 1960 Olympic Decathlon Champion, died and will be remembered for representing the USA with dignity and sportsmanship. Throughout his life, he was known for his philanthropy and community leadership. Speed, strength, and sports leadership dignify his legacy. The runners in this race will be expected to live up to these high ideals.
