The 2021 Cure Bowl is only 185 days away! This is the Orlando Sports Foundation’s biggest event of the year and we can’t wait to celebrate all the cancer fighters, survivors, and thrivers out there! So mark your calendars for December 17 because kickoff is at 6pm ET on ESPN2!
With Father’s Day right around the corner, this Warrior Wednesday, we talked to long time Cure Bowl supporter, Purvis Adamson Jr. about his father’s battle against cancer. Read Purvis Sr.’s story below
OSF: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
P: My name is Purvis Adamson Jr. and I am a father of two, 17-year-old Son and a 14-year-old Daughter. I am 39 years old and The Founder/ CEO of Yen Euro Marketing INC. I Love the game of Football and have played tackle since I was 8 years old.
OSF: How did you find out about the Cure Bowl?
P: Coach Alan Gooch. I was introduced to Coach through Jordan of JA Edwards. I did the marketing for Orlando Predators arena football team in 2019 and JA Edwards that’s where the connection with involvement with OSF.
OSF: What does the Cure Bowl and its cause mean to you?
P: The Cure Bowl game is very sentimental due to the passion I have for the game and having a loved one pass away due to cancer. I am also on the Marketing Committee (Marketing Liaison)
OSF: Who is the person(s) you are honoring? What were they diagnosed with? How long was their battle?
P: My father Purvis Adamson Sr. He 58 years old when he was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma
OSF: How long was their battle?
P: 2 months 10 days
OSF: How would you describe your warrior to a stranger or to those reading this story?
P: My Dad was a military veteran (United States Army) he loved our country and the game of football. That’s where my inspiration originated.
OSF: Is there a memory you like to share?
P: He was my youth football league Coach and he helped me create mental toughness because I was normally the smallest kid on the field but he encouraged me to be fearless
OSF: What message would you like to provide survivor in the community?
P: Keep fighting for you and your Loved ones! We want you to stay with us
